Emergency Management
Illini-Alerts
When a severe campus emergency happens, the Division of Public Safety promptly notifies our community members.
Illini-Alert is used for incidents which present an imminent threat to life, health, or safety to the general campus population. These messages provide emergency information and instructions for personal protective actions. Illini-Alert sends email and text messages and displays on digital signs across campus. Visit Technology Services for more information.
How to sign up
Text Messages
All students, faculty and staff will be prompted to provide a cellphone number for Illini-Alert text messages when they set up their campus NetID accounts. You may opt out, but everyone is strongly encouraged to enroll.
If you’ve previously opted out and now want to enroll, you can enter a cellphone number at emergency.illinois.edu.
If you do not have a NetID, you can receive Illini-Alert messages by texting “IlliniAlert” to 226787.
All students, faculty and staff are automatically subscribed to emails. This is a federal requirement under the Clery Act. If you have a NetID, you may enroll two additional email addresses at emergency.illinois.edu.
