URBANA, Ill. – The University of Illinois Police Department on Monday released its 2019 Year In Review, which details some of the biggest trends, initiatives, public safety issues and other items of interest throughout the previous school year. The report also includes statistics for the previous school year and information on how Illinois compares to similar institutions with regard to crime on campus. Public Notice: Juvenile records for years 2013-2015 expunged
Public notice is hereby given that the University of Illinois Police Department has completed the expungement of all eligible juvenile records created in 2013, 2014 and 2015, in accordance with Public Act 100-1162 of the state of Illinois. Why are we issuing this notice? In 2018, the state of Illinois approved Public Act 100-1162, which requires that law enforcement agencies automatically expunge all eligible juvenile records from the years 2013 through 2017. New vehicle joins UIPD fleet
URBANA, Ill. – The University of Illinois Police Department has added a new vehicle to its fleet that will make it easier for officers to get around and stay visible during special events like football games and parades. The new Polaris Ranger utility task vehicle (UTV) is smaller and more nimble than a typical police squad car and will be able to go places that a full size sport utility vehicle cannot. Public invited to promotion ceremony for Lt. Barb Robbins
URBANA, Ill. — All are invited to attend a promotion ceremony on Thursday, June 20, for Lt. Barb Robbins, whose new rank is a reflection of her hard work in keeping our community safe. Robbins was named UIPD’s newest lieutenant at the beginning of June after an internal search process. Her responsibilities will include accreditation, crime prevention, special events, training and other support services. She succeeds Lt. Joe McCullough, who will move to head of the department’s detective bureau following the July retirement of Lt. Tom Geis. Stephanie Vogelsang took on a new role this summer as the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign’s Protection of Minors Compliance Specialist. That’s a big job, and it’s the first time the Illinois campus has had a dedicated staff member in that role. The university’s Protection of Minors policy and implementation procedures are designed to ensure that people under the age of 18 are safe when they come to campus for planned events, programs and activities.
