Off-duty University Police lieutenant killed in traffic crash
CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – The University of Illinois Police Department is mourning the loss Monday of a police lieutenant who died of injuries sustained in a vehicle-versus-motorcycle crash Sunday in Champaign. Aaron R. Landers, 50, of Saint Joseph, Illinois, was pronounced dead at 3:11 a.m. Monday at Carle Foundation Hospital. The official cause of death was ruled as blunt force injuries sustained in that traffic accident. University Police are releasing this information in conjunction with the Champaign County Coroner. Police-student partnership makes crime map available

U. of I. Police host blood drive
URBANA, Ill. – University of Illinois Police Department officers and staff on Friday will host and participate in a blood drive to help make sure there is adequate inventory for community members who need it. The blood drive will take place from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday at the U. of I. Public Safety Building, 1110 W. Springfield Ave., Urbana. Due to COVID-19 protocols, masks and appointments are required to donate blood, and no walk-ins will be served.
