New traffic patterns for Fighting Illini football games
CHAMPAIGN, Illinois – Fighting Illini fans will want to make note of new traffic patterns and parking opportunities in effect for football gamedays. The new traffic patterns will enhance security near the stadium while keeping traffic flowing before and after the game. URBANA, Illinois – Executive Director and Chief of Police Alice Cary announced today that she has accepted a position with the Silverthorne (Colorado) Police Department as its new Chief of Police. Her last day at the Division of Public Safety will be in late September. A national search for the next Executive Director of Public Safety and Chief of Police will be initiated. Officers graduate academy, one earns top honor
URBANA, Illinois — The University of Illinois Police Department is congratulating two of its newest officers on their graduation from police academy Thursday, one of whom earned the academy's top honor. Officers Gabriel Donnelly and Candance Williams completed the 16-week basic law enforcement course this summer and will now enter field training at UIPD. They will start patrolling the campus area with a field training officer. Williams notably earned the police academy’s highest honor, the Ervin H. URBANA, Illinois – After a busy year of new initiatives during the 2022-23 school year, the University of Illinois Police Department is looking to maintain positive momentum toward keeping the campus area safe into the new fall semester. Tuition discount scam
A U. of I. student reported that she was contacted via social media platform WeChat by a person who said that they ran a service which could provide a discount on the student's tuition. The scammer directed the student to provide access to her university accounts, and also pay $26,800 to the scammer. In return, her $30,000 tuition bill would be paid. After the student paid the $26,800 fee via wire transfer, the tuition initially appeared to be paid. After a few days, however, the student's account balances reverted to the original amounts.
